10 Interesting Ways You Can Make Use of Ice

Innovative Ideas for Ice Cubes

Ice cubes do not have to be boring. Apart from your regular ice cubes, you can use other types of ice cubes for your skin. These are easy to prepare and have immense benefits for your skin.

1. Aloe Ice Cubes

Get your hands on fresh aloe vera gel and freeze it in your ice cube tray. Aloe vera is a great skincare product and frozen aloe ice cubes leave your skin refreshed and supple.

2. Green Tea Ice Cubes

Brew green tea and instead of consuming it, this time put it in your freezer to make ice cubes. Green tea has antibacterial and antiviral properties and these benefits can be availed when it is applied on the face too.

3 .Watering Plants

Suspended, hanging, and potted plants present a problem when watering. Place ice cubes on top of the soil. The ice cube will melt slowly, absorbed by the soil and roots as it moves through the potting mixture and roots.

4 .Remove Gum from Fabrics

Place ice cubes inside a sandwich or freezer bag, and rub the cold plastic against the sticky substance. In fact, you can even let the bag rest on the gum for a while.Once the gum has started to harden, use a butter knife or similar dull object to pick off and remove the frozen substance. If you’re still have some residual gum left over, dab alcohol on the gum to help dissolve or loosen from fabric fibers.

5. Skincare

Soothing skin with ice cubes is a lot easier than one might think.

  • Reduces Pimple Redness: Cold packs of ice ease redness at the pimple site.
  • Soothes Sunburns: Ice cubes are great for taking the heat out of the skin after a sunburn.
  • Lessens Eye Puffiness: Use an ice cold compress to reduce puffiness in tired eyes.
  • Boosts Circulation & Brightens Complexion: Regular use of ice on the skin helps to brighten complexion and increase circulation to the face.

6. Garbage Disposal Cleaning

Garbage disposals are an asset to any home. Simply use about 1-cup of ice and coarse rock salt to clean the blades of your garbage disposal, followed by lemon wedges. Follow up with boiling water for a final rinse. Repeat the ice and salt step again if needed.

The hard ice and the coarse salt help to remove and pull off stuck on grease and food debris, and the acids in the lemon wedges break apart oils and disengage food from the blades. What you’re left with is a clean garbage disposal.

7.Reheat Rice

Leftover fried rice from your favorite corner Chinese restaurant is never the same as it was the night before.  Place an ice cube on top of your rice bowl and microwave. The ice cube creates a steam that is absorbed back into the rice, giving it moisture–and that tasty revival from last night’s dinner.

8. Taking Medicine

Just suck on one ice cube prior to taking your medicine. Take your medicine immediately afterwards, as the flavor will be dulled to the taste buds.

9.Make-Up Primer

Make-up primers are used to blur the surface of the skin for a smooth application of foundations. Instead of using a make-up primer, rub an ice cube across your cheeks, chin, and T-zone to reduce the size of your pores. This will help create a smooth, blurred canvas, as the cold reduces or minimizes the size of pores.

10 .Removing Splinters

Ouch! Splinters are painful, and the process to remove them can also be painful when you factor in tweezing and digging needles under the skin. To help quell any pain, consider placing an ice cube over the effected area for 30 seconds to 1 minute to numb the spot. Applying ice will help to dull and numb the area, making it easier to remove the splinter.
