This year’s International Women’s Day theme is ‘breaking the bias‘.  and it’s about working towards a world free of stereotypes and discrimination that is diverse, equitable and inclusive

International Women’s Day (IWD) is recognized globally on March 8, celebrating the achievements of women across a variety of fields from culture to politics.

In this edition, we will be profiling various women who are masters in their little corner yet projecting Nigeria to the world .  Each day women  contribute to the industry’s growth, from fast-rising stars to A-listers, some of these women include Elohor Isiorho ,Tiwa Savage , Oke Maduewesi , Deola Sagoe , Moriam Musa , Dupe Olusola ,  Fade Ogunro , Chimamanda Adichie , Omoyemi Akerele  , kemi Adetiba ,Bella Disu , Kemi Akinyemi ,Stephanie Busari  ,Mo Abudu  and Shade Okoya

These 15  women are individually holding some of the most challenging and important positions , as well as playing fundamental roles in making the world see that being in Nigeria can be challenging but we can boldly take out stand in the globally competitive marketplace.

Elohor Isiorho – As a one time beauty queen and model, Elohor has never lost sight of the runway.  She has risen the runs from just being a model scout to running the biggest modelling agency in Africa a a whole.  Each season, her girls and boys walk the ramp clad in International brands and faces gracing high Street fashion billboards .
Tiwa savage – Tiwa Savage is one of the biggest pop stars to emerge from West Africa during the 2010s, with numerous hits and international awards to her name. The singer, songwriter, actor, and performer, is known as one of the biggest female  stars of the Nigerian music . Taking note of all her International collabos , she keeps.churning out one hit after another.
Oke Maduewesi – Oke Maduewesi, is the  CEO. Zaron group of companies, a.k.a boss lady

Backed with her knowledge and skills as a former Zenith Bank Manager, and an MBA holder , Oke Maduewesi has built a contemporary innovative cosmetics brand that has grown to have over 25 franchise outlets and 800+ distributors in Nigeria and other African countries, whilst also contributing to the socio-economic development of Nigeria through job creation, enterprise development, strong corporate social responsibility and a business ethos anchored on reputation and trust. Zaron group is one of the leading cosmetic brands in Africa, that specializes in the design, manufacture and distribution of beauty products for women of color by making lifestyles products that are tailored to their specific needs.

Deola sagoe –  We know her, love her, and have stood amazed by how she puts Nigeria on fashion’s world stage – for all the right reasons. She stays at the cutting-edge of fashion and keeps innovating. Her  luxurious collections of Komole – has quickly become the favourite of celebrities and the wealthy .   Adeola Ade-Ojo, is a trailblazer putting Africa on the global luxury fashion map .Deola Sagoe is disrupting fashion each time with a little piece of finely woven aso- oke –  with the Komole . What sets her apart is that she’s a true trailblazer, she is way ahead of the pack, she has taken Nigeria to the world with our fashion, she keeps innovating, Aso-Oke has gone global through her pieces, makes every piece an art, she has remained consistent to luxury and she has  redefining bridal wear.
Moriam Musa – This once Clinical Nutritionist turned fashion writer and publicist has never hidden her deep love for Aftican fashion and Lifestyle. Starting the first fashion and lifestyle Pr agency, Moriam has worked with numerous brands in and out of Africa. Rising from the newsroom, she has a voice in the Nigeria fashion space and become a force with her consistent story telling of Nigerian owned brands  ,  discovery of  new talents in the industry and exporting home grown talent via various international platforms  . With 3 publications under her belt and a solution platform called Ask Morsi,  Moriam is fully dedicated to the success of the average creative talent by telling their story to the world.
Fade ogunro – Fade Ogunro is an ambitious techpreneur and innovative problem solver, with goals to impact Africa by increasing digital gig-work and self-sustainable employment. techpreneur and CEO of Bookings Africa, Fade Ogunro puts Nigeria on the map with her most recent appointment as a member of the Global Campaign Board for The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women, making her the first African and Nigerian woman to become part of the organization’s board.
In 2019 she launched her latest venture BookingsAfrica.com, a pan-African on-demand digital marketplace that allows professionals and service providers from Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa to sell their services and skills online. The platform currently has more than 85,000 users, among which 60% are women.
Omoyemi Akerele – OMOYEMI AKERELE is the founder of Style House Files and Lagos Fashion Week , she speaks about the opportunities she sees for the future of fashion in Nigeria , the obstacles the fashion community from the continent still faces and her view on where the African continent’s fashion industry stands globally today. Each year her platform parades home talents making sure the world is paying attention.
Bella Disu
Belinda ‘Bella’ Olubunmi Ajoke Disu who was recently appointed Chairman, Board of Directors of Abumet Nigeria Limited . She is also the Executive Vice-Chairman of Globacom Limited, Chief Executive Officer of Cobblestone Properties & Estates Limited, a Director on the Board of Mike Adenuga Centre and a Director on the board of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc.
Kemi Akinyemi – The publisher of Nigeria’s numerous uno society digital magazine – The Elites. Kemi who has made giant Strides silently overtime,  is a plethora of knowledge when it comes to board room personalities,  political issues as well as  economic discourse in relation with global matters.  Kemi consistence has seen her publication a collectors item of reference which celebrates , acknowledges and borders on top decision makers and nation stake holder’s.

Shade Okoya – Chief (Dr.) Folashade Naimot Okoya is  a Nigerian fashion commentator and the MD/CEO of Eleganza Group  She is at the leadership of the  Eleganza Industrial City; which is being positioned as the number one manufacturing organization in the whole of Africa. Since she assumed office as Managing Director (MD) of Eleganza Industrial City,she  repositioned the company in a positive environment thereby giving it a new mission and culture aimed to propel the company in the direction of being the number one producer of all household items.

kemi adetiba –  Apart from movies, many may not know Kemi Adetiba was once a music producer and had worked with the likes of Wizkid, Davido, Waje, among others. Many may not know that Kemi once ventured into acting; however, she would later find out it was not for her as he focused on being behind the camera. The Nigerian filmmaker, television director and music video director, has hd her works appear on Channel O, MTV Base, Soundcity TV, BET and Netflix

Chimamanda Adichie – Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is a , Nigerian author whose work drew extensively on the Biafran war in Nigeria during the late 1960s . She is well known  for her published works that have garnered internal acclaim. She specializes in nonfictional writing and storytelling that span societal issues from race, identity and love .  One of the most compelling injunctions in Adichie’s manifestos is to encourage girls to “reject likability” .  Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is a stern, resilient, and unapologetic reformist-feminist. With her feminist approach, she is poised to break down gender-based discriminatory barriers and her message is a global one .

Dupe Olusola –  Dupe Olusola is a Nigerian business executive. She is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria-based Hospitality company, Transcorp Hotels plc, subsidiary of the Nigerian conglomerate, Transnational Corporation of Nigeria. She has risen in the corporate sector so swiftly as she has enjoyed a consistent rise in her career as a woman in Nigeria’s corporate world.

Stephanie Busari –   Stephanie is a skilled and experienced newsroom leader who reports on-air for CNN International and has a strong track record of delivering impactful journalism in multiple formats. Stephanie is recognized for her commitment to justice and speaking up for the voiceless.

TY Bello – Singer, songwriter, photographer and philanthropist, this talented photography has glamourised the at of picture taking by capturing moments that speak volumes of the celebrant’s joy and achievements . Her portraits never fail to rouse strong emotions and have made her one of the most applauded and keenly sought after portrait photographers in the country. Her photography have been exhibited in Nigeria and around the world- where she has earned awards both home and abroad.
