Ade Bakare Halts Fashion in Knightsbridge, UK with The Splendour of African Textiles

Ade Bakare held his annual fashion show for his UK clients on the 31st of July at the Rembrandt hotel ,Knightsbridge.it was a well attended couture show, to present  his designs for summer 2022 ,lots of his clients always look forward to his show which is held annually at the prestigious Rembrandt hotel .the collection shown was titled “The splendour of African textiles “ .
There was a generous use different fabrics from around the African continent .exquisite textiles such as the kanga and leso from Mombasa in Kenya ,the payne Boulay from Ivory Coast ,Asò oke ,adire and akwete from Nigeria ,the Kente and Kente oke from ghana ,including fabrics from Mozambique and ankara textiles.
According to the designer ,  the collection brought back memories of his constant travels across the African continent ,especially on his visits for fashion shows he has been invited to such as ,Morocco ,Ghana ,South Africa , Mozambique,Equatorial Guinea,Cameroon, Ivory Coast ,Gabon ,Togo ,Rwanda and Sierra LeoneIn attendance at the show was the curator of the African department of the Victoria and Albert museum in London Christine Checinska ,who recently curated the African fashion exhibition ,which is on at the moment ,was in attendance and loved the fashion show
Beautiful skirts with the Arewa motif embroidered by hand by weavers from the northern part of Nigeria ,coats made from Ghanaian crack adire, vintage Asò oke capes( very sustainable) jackets and palazzo trousers made from Ade Bakare’s signature adire patterns such as Ila (lines Ilaari (comb) coaoa and Ododo (flowers ) where all on display . Due to the success of the show ,the BBC invited ade Bakare to an interview at the west end headquarters in london ,where he was interviewed and the tv presenters modelled his collection to be shown on the BBC channels across the world
Before the show commenced guests were serenade by drinks and live beautiful music after the show clients bought lots of the designs on display with the house perfume “ Ade Bakare signature “which is now available in the new 50ml size which is more compact for travelling ,and his exquisite bags in vivid contrast colours, such as pinks and blues ,purples and greens .totally fabulous
