Why Keep Dignity Alive?
Nigeria has become one of the leading African countries in human trafficking, and experiences internal, cross-border and cross-country trafficking (according to UNESCO). Thousands of Nigerian women have been forced into labour and prostitution in European countries such as Italy, Spain and Netherlands – with a population of approximately 10,000 women in Italy alone.

Many Nigerian women seek greener pastures outside the shores of Nigeria. This type of migration arises because of economic hardships experienced due to the high unemployment rate in Nigeria (~16% for women, and ~25% for the age group 15 – 24). In the process of looking for a way out of this difficulty, many women have fallen victim to false international immigration promises which, in most cases, turn out to be the entry point to slavery and human trafficking. They unknowingly enter a contract to repay their agents, who later subject them to all sorts of inhumane treatment, including prostitution to repay their captors.

The trafficking of young Nigerian women and children is not only undignified, but also results in exploitation and death during the journey. The 26 deceased Nigerian women retrieved from the Mediterranean Sea and buried in Italy are said to have been victims of trafficking.

Beauty in Every Life Keep Dignity Alive project is set up to tackle human trafficking, criminality and hunger by educating and empowering Nigerian youths to come out of poverty and step into further education or self-employment. We achieve this goal by creating awareness on the dangers of trafficking and educating Nigerian Youths on the signs and prevention of trafficking. We also provide an alternative value proposition through life skill and entrepreneurship education.

Project Strategy for Keep Dignity Alive Project
As a part of its prevention strategy, BIEL reaches out to communities conducting public awareness campaigns, workshops and media campaigns.

BIEL seeks to partner with international organisations to provide anti-trafficking training for school teachers and students in Nigeria.

BIEL will pursue a door to door campaign, media campaign, town hall meetings and solidarity march to draw greater sustained attention to the tragedy of human trafficking.

BIEL will also create advocacy programs to get more people in decision making positions to enact policies that can prevent these problems.

She Blossoms Africa: Empowering African Female Refugees and Victims of Trafficking in the Netherlands

Why She Blossoms Africa?
Trafficked victims and Refugees are often vulnerable and could easily become targets of sexual exploitation and forced labour. They seek greener pastures in Europe, only to arrive and face unanticipated hardships and loss of confidence.

According to UNCHR, half of the refugees and trafficked victims are women. On their way to Europe, they suffer physical and emotional abuse – including sexual and financial exploitation – which deprives them of their dignity and confidence. Despite these challenges, the women tend to be resilient and do whatever it takes to support themselves and their families. Given opportunities and support these women can contribute to the cultural diversity, innovation and workforce of their host countries.

She Blossoms Africa empowers African female refugees and victims of trafficking to express their full potential and become financially independent by providing them with skills training, supporting and promoting their innovative ideas and raising their confidence to seek meaningful employment.

Our goal is to accelerate integration and improve the livelihood of African Refugees and victims of trafficking to become more integrated into the society, gain meaningful employment or start their own business.

The event was put together by globally renowned Brand Strategist,CharlesOTudor.
In his remarks he noted the importance of education and enlightenment in decision making.
According to him “ a lot of us are guilty in one way or the other.
If you have ever engaged the services of a minor as a domestic servant for a monthly stipend you are involved in child labour.
Ignorance is not an excuse “.

BIEL is fully registered by the Chamber of Commerce of The Hague to carry out its mission.
Beauty in Every Life was founded by two West African female entrepreneurs in The Hague, Ebere Akadiri and Effie White.
