In this interview with Beaute Rack , Temitayo speaks on her journey into building a sustainable and a globally reputable beauty brand.
– You specialize in bridal makeup. What sets it apart from other aspects of makeup artistry.
Honestly, I wouldn’t say I specialize in bridal makeup. Yes the bridal makeup patronage outweighs the other sides of makeup which includes Fashion makeup, film makeup etc. but then I really love fashion makeup and a lot of times I have tried to build portfolios for it. However, what really sets my craft apart from other aspects of makeup artistry is my ability to I honestly face my craft, I don’t judge or criticize. My work always looks fresh and second to skin, basically makeup looking like your skin. That’s my forte.
– Do you have a signature look? If yes, what is it?
Yes, my makeup looking fresh likes skin and maybe glossy lips.
– How did you land your first job?
It was through a referral. My friend’s friend recommended me.

Thank goodness ….I rarely have rude and dissatisfied clients, however, situations where we’ve had rude people, we just keep being professional because what usually makes anyone rude or come-off disrespectful is probably pressure so we understand that our client is probably under pressure. It’s one of our virtues that we never give an attitude or disrespect a client. So if our clients are under pressure we try to take the heat off them. When they are rude we remain calm and they usually apologize nonetheless. As for dissatisfied clients, we try to appease them and ensure they get what they want.
– What is your memorable job till date?
This was when my client tipped me with extra dollars and invited me to do her white wedding makeup in Spain. Sadly I couldn’t go because I was pregnant and almost due. However I was able to do her traditional wedding makeup.
– How do you feel about Instagram beauty influencers with no professional make-up training, calling themselves make-up artists?
Maybe because I like hardworking people and I really don’t like when people are lazy and idle. I honestly prefer when someone is doing something rather than doing nothing. Some people do not have access to do proper training so some of these people have taken it upon themselves to get trained by watching videos on Youtube, that’s something. Rather than you sitting down and saying I’m not doing anything because I don’t have access to physical training with someone so they started from somewhere, that means a lot. I honestly face my craft, I don’t judge or criticize. I feel it is empowering for anyone to take a step to owing a craft so I honestly don’t have anything against them.
– Mention three makeup items a woman should not leave home without.
A pressed powder, a creamy lipstick or gloss and a brow pencil.
– What famous artists have influenced you?
