Its no longer news that the fashion and beauty industry was worst hit post the lekki episode . So many brands , housed in various malls spread across lagos were attacked , looted and some burnt down . The aftermath has been heart wrenching and some of the brand owners have since been admitted due to the shock they had experience in the wake of business .

We reached out to a number of them to encourage them as well as know what their future plans were . While some malls have begun the renovation process, others are still at crossroads .

In this article, we captured the ordeal of a few prominent brands who were caught up in the mayhem .

Toyin Adedeji-Bakare aka Toyin Sas (Exotic fabris dealers)

Both of our Lennox mall Lekki and Surulere Outlets were looted and we know that God is with us and we choose to be Resilient. Like we have all been told Ile Oba to Jo, Ewa loma bu si ie we are all coming out stronger and better than ever. We will never allow this to happen again not on my watch ”.We are pressed on all sides but not discouraged!!!!
We move !

Tara Durotoye(Tara )

When I got the courage to visit my vandalized store yesterday to see the extent of the damage .The destruction to economic assets in this singular mall alone is disheartening .Spoke to some entrepreneurs who are BROKEN as a result .

Ibironke Oduniyi- Goldsmithing Training School(lagos Jewelry School)

Our  facility was completely ravaged at the Shoprite Surulere last Wednesday. Our space was left with next to nothing! .Bringing back the stories of what happened that day is heartbreaking . During the mall meeting – I had to step out , I could not keep listening to how they achieved what they had done to the mall . I have been of the opinion we are not united in our community but I take back my words – I have been encouraged by those in the jewellery community and even those I don,t know . I was going to close this chapter and call it quits finally but the outpouring of love has gingered me to keep going .

Funmilayo Ayanbadejo – CEO Patrick Ayanski, Ayanski Fabrics

The Patrick Ayanski ‘s fabric showroom at Shoprite Surulere after it was looted last Wednesday. This is the second time their showroom will be looted in less than a year.

….We have had a very tough 2+ weeks. From us shutting down our stores in solidarity with the #EndSARS protests to our Surulere shop being looted by the mob.
However, we remain grateful and thankful to God that all members of staff and director’s are safe.We appreciate your love, concerns, prayers and genuine interest in Patrick Ayanski’s well-being.We also sympathise with the families who have lost a loved one and businesses that have been looted and vandalised. We pray that all our sacrifices and loss would not be in vain and that Nigeria would become great and safe for all of us to live in again. We trust that God almighty would bring us out stronger and restore us in Jesus precious name.

Zainab Oduniyi – Tosho Woods Bridal

Still so numb……….Beaten but not broken – Yes, our store at the Adeniran Ogunsanya Mall was completely vandalized and looted. In December 2019, our showroom was gutted by fire. We bounced back and moved to a new space at Shoprite Surulere early this year but it was sadly looted during the anti-Xenophobia attack in Lagos. Like that was not enough, our space was looted again last wednesday! Devastating!

Odeva

We are hurt and dissapointed our stores were not only looted but destroyed last wednesday. Is there more to this than just looting? I mean why the roof??? Unthinkable! Mere words of comfort can never be enough, donations and patronage will do much more. THREE of our locations were looted by hoodlums.
The only people to blame here is the government, not the people on the streets causing mayhem, they are a product of a failed system and have nothing to loose .It is the responsibility of the government to protect it’s citizens lives and properties. It’s a sad turnout of events but this is our present reality! This is nothing compared to the loss of lives of the peaceful protesters. All our sacrifices will not be in vain! They will always be remembered and honoured. NIGERIA WILL BE GREAT AGAIN.

Debragrace- Olamide & Kim
