Kris Jenner got the internet all riled up on Saturday, by announcing that her daughter, Kendall Jenner, was about to share some big news. Kris praised her daughter for being “so brave and vulnerable”, describing the upcoming revelation as Kendall’s “most raw” and “moving” story yet.
The following evening, Kendall announced that she would be working with skincare brand, Proactiv, whilst also sharing a short story about her experience with acne.
The reality TV star turned supermodel took to Twitter to put the record straight and fans were left disgusted over what they dubbed ‘another shameless act of self-promotion’
Kendall Jenner left fans stunned as her huge personal announcement turned out to be an advert for acne cream.
A day earlier momager Kris Jenner, 63, caused a social media meltdown as she urged followers to keep an eye on Kendall’s Twitter account as a ‘raw and personal’ announcement was imminent.
In a teaser released the day before, Kendall’s mother Kris said she was ‘so proud’ of her daughter’s for being ‘so brave and vulnerable.’
“Seeing you share your most raw story in order to make a positive impact for so many people and help foster a positive dialogue is a testament to the incredible woman you’ve become.
“Make sure to watch Kendall’s Twitter on Sunday night to find out what I’m talking about and be prepared to be moved.’
She followed it up with the hashtags :#bethechange #shareyourstory #changetheconversation #proudmom #finallyasolution #authenticity #mydaughterinspiresme #getready.”
“Kendall Jenner’s big announcement was shameless… 50% of teens struggle with acne and they have to deal with it without a 5 million dollar contract from proactive,” cried another.
“This just shows how disconnected the kardashians/Jenners are from the real world and the real issues. Can’t believe you guys announced it the way you did! Like it was some life changing story . Get real! Pepsi commercial all over again. Major fail!” echoed a third.
The backlash comes after the series finale of Season 15 of Keeping Up With The Kardashians saw less than a million people tuning in as viewing figures were down 37 per cent from the premeire.
While Kendall’s announcement is the second time in she’s been savagely criticised by fans over a commercial.
Her controversial advertisement for Pepsi in 2017 was accused of trying to capitalise on the Black Lives Matter and was eventually pulled.
