Kemi Goodey,  is the creative director behind the popular Heiress Couture in Lagos , Nigeria . While many are of the opinion that her Elizabethan pieces are imported, Kemi actually makes these costume pieces here in Nigeria from start to finish . Her fairytale couture pieces are every girls dream a dream which older girls also bask in . In this interview with Tribe and Elan editor in Chief – Moriam Musa , Kemi speaks about the challenges and highs of running such a unique fashion outfit in an African space .

T & E – You have carved a niche for yourself in the Nigerian Kiddies fashion through the “Mum and Me” platform which you started out 10 years ago . Can you please brief us on how the journey has been from then till now?

HC ~Okay , the first Mum and me outfit/photoshoot for my daughter’s first birthday brought us into the limelight!

The journey has been great, though not without some challenges, we have expanded and have been featured in international fashion shows and magazines, we had  also gotten an award from City people and numerous other award nominations….in all we are grateful for the progress we have made.

T & E –  Your style of designs are dated and Victorian. Is this how it has always been or is this an evolution?

HC ~Well, our intention was ball dresses for the fairytale feel,  but after I made myself and my kids Victorian outfits for my birthday shoot in 2018,the demand for Victorian//Elizabethan outfit has been out of this world

T & E ~ What kind of fabrics do you mostly work with?
