Omoehi Ighodalo, the young , meek and vibrant lady who is steadily building her empire one brand at a time. Somewhat a mysterious face behind her parents’ overwhelming profile, Omoehi has been pictured to be one of the fairytale kind – filled with exotic adventures , elitist and somewhat inaccessible.  Not minding the labels of the world, she has constantly filed her way steadily to prominence by carving a niche for herself in the lifestyle and beauty industries .

Born to a highly placed parents , Asue Ighodalo an astute lawyer (Banwo & Ighodalo ) and mum – Ifeyinwa Ighodalo who is an institution in the art of  Interior decorating( DO.II Designs Ltd) , has not seen Omoehi  just settle for the birth rights of a silver spoon kid but instead  her reach into the depths of making  bold her own identity , has aroused much curiosity . A graduate of  sociology at the University of Manchester, today has seen her open Mohini Experience(a luxury hair brand ) ,   Mohini Beauty( a Beauty spot)  & Icora.Home( Interior Design ) . In this exclusive interview with Tribe & Elan , Omoehi tells us how she started her businesses from her passion of helping people express their inner beauty, taking strides in her mother’s space and earning her own flowers .

Starting out your hair business, saw your father against it . Today you also have a salon and you are delving deeper into the beauty business , how did you eventually earn his full trust ?

  • My dad was never really against it per say, he was just very skeptical because he didn’t see how i could make proper money from selling hair. I think now that he’s seen that my business is more than a hobby and that it is something i have really put my all into, he’s fully supporting me and rooting for me.

Your mum is a great supporter of your brand , has it made it easier for you ?

  • Yes, definitely. My mum has been my biggest cheerleader from the beginning, but she’s like that with everything that I do. It’s definitely made it easier, because anytime I have problems I know that she’s always there to help, and she’s helped me promote my brand without me even asking. She really does everything in her power to help me and help my business grow.

You are also tip-toeing in her territory , any hope of stepping into her grand shoes eventually ?

  • I guess that’s the plan in the end. I really didn’t want to follow in her footsteps because I didn’t want to be in her shadow, but it’s something that I truly enjoy and I see myself doing for a long time. Hopefully I can not only step in her shoes but transform her business and take it to greater heights.

Growing up with highly placed and professional parents , how has this affected your career decisions ?

  • It hasn’t really affected my decisions, I’ve always just wanted to be successful and make both my parents proud. Seeing both of them successfully run their businesses for 30 years had just made me want to do even better than they have, and make a name for myself in my own field.

What is growing up with such a glamorous mum like ?

  • It’s amazing. Her closet is like my shopping mall. Her shoes, her clothes, her bags, her jewellery.
“ She’s basically been the blueprint for me when it comes to my style”

Describe yourself in 3 words

Ummm….I’d say driven , creative & Loving

How would you describe your style ?

  • I would describe my style as very relaxed. I really wear what I feel comfortable in and what i think suits me.

You seem very fashionable . Any plans of establishing a fashion label in the future ?

  • Thank you! My sister and I are coming out with something very soon.

Are you a fussy person when it comes to your looks ? If so what strict rules do you go by ?

  • I won’t really say i’m fussy, I just like to look my best. Always make sure my hair is done, I look presentable, my makeup is good and I’m wearing clothes that suit me and are appropriate for the occasion. Never want to be caught slipping. ”

What is your beauty regime like ?

– I really just try to stay healthy for the most part, exercise, take my vitamins, eat fruits & vegetables with all my meals and give my body what it loves. I no longer believe in very strict dieting so I just do what works best for me. I also love taking care of my skin so I make sure i eat food that is good for my gut. I have a skincare routine that i follow day and night, and I really love oil cleansing at night to get rid of toxins. My beauty regimen is truly just practicing self care.
