Tokyo James debuts ’ Spring/Summer 2019 Collection – “An Alien in Africa”

Menswear brand, Tokyo James recently  released the lookbook for its Spring/Summer 2019 collection which first debuted at South African Menswear Week earlier in the year.

In this interview with Elle, the Nigerian born designer shared that reuniting with his father and exploring his wardrobe was the main inspiration behind the collection An Alien in Africa.

Interestingly , this collection is the infusion of snakeskin into the brand’s pieces, featuring carrier bags and tote bags emblazoned with the brand’s name and dangling tassels adding a little fun to the already one-tone bags.

The emblazoned name on the snakeskin leather bags makes a strong case for the “logomania” trend which is currently huge on all the international shows this season. With each collection, Tokyo James seeks to reiterate its brand’s aesthetics while tending to the needs of fashion fanatics in dire need of his pieces.
