Though her Instagram page is currently inactive and there are no news about her death on her Foundation’s Instagram account, a statement was issued by her brother in la – Asue Ighodalo announcing her death on behalf of the family. Ibidunni Ighodalo was said to have travelled to Port Harcourt on Friday, June 12 for work. Preparations for her 40th birthday which was supposed to hold on Sunday, July 19 were ongoing before the family was hit with this unexpected tragedy.
Ibidunni Ighodalo who was first known as Ibidun Ajayi hit fame when she won the Miss Lux beauty pageant competition as an 18 year old undergraduate of the University of Lagos. She was also a successful event planner whose outfit, Elizabeth R, had big brands in her clientele. Recently, she was working with one of the top banks in Nigeria to provide isolation centres in Bayelsa and Rivers State for Covid-19 patients.
Ibidunni Ighodalo was also the founder of Ibidunni Ighodalo Foundation, an NGO created to raise awareness on issues about infertility. Her struggle with infertility led her to start the foundation. In an interview held in 2018, Ighodalo revealed that she did IVF 11 times due to pressure from in-laws and friends before making a decision to adopt her daughter Keke. Now, her foundation provides grants for couples that require fertility treatment such as Intrauterine Insemination and In-vitro Fertilisation (IVF).
The news of her death has elicited many reactions on Twitter as she had become the number one trending topic.
Ibidunni Ighodalo was indeed an humble and caring woman that has made great impact.
