14th Africa Fashion Week London to Take Place During Black History Month in October
This year, we celebrate the 14th and 10th anniversaries of the award-winning African Fashion Week London (AFWL) and African Fashion Week Nigeria (AFWN), founded by the dynamic Olori Aderonke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi.
What started as a small initiative has grown into a significant platform, earning widespread acclaim. The journey has been challenging, but we are grateful for our achievements. Celebrating 14 and 10 editions is no small feat.
AFWL, the premier international African fashion showcase, began in London in 2011 at Gibson Hall. It has since presented thousands of African heritage brands to global audiences. The success of AFWL inspired the creation of AFWN in Lagos, Nigeria.
AFWL 2024 will take place on October 11-12, 2024, at the Kensington and Chelsea Conference and Events Centre in London. AFWN 2024 will follow from December 7-9, 2024, at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. Both events promise extraordinary displays of fashion and style, focusing on the theme “Traditional Textiles and Royal Regalia.”
Olori Ronke Ademiluyi-Ogunwusi is also the founder of the Adire Odua brand, based in Ile-Ife, Osun State. As a royal princess and wife of His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Babatunde Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, she brings authenticity and cultural depth to these events. The Adire fabric, which she champions, is one of Nigeria’s most authentic traditional textiles.
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has supported these initiatives since their inception and continues to do so as the most stylish monarch in Africa. His presence at this press conference underscores the importance of these events and his unwavering support for his wife and Nigerian culture.
These upcoming events in London and Lagos promise to be the best yet, celebrating our rich traditions and regal heritage.
