TikTok user Lukáš Kohutek has been using Durex lube as a primer in his makeup tutorials for a while now and he always looks flawless. As at last month, the hashtag #LubePrimer already had over 7.6 million views on TikTok. Incredible! So the question is, is this a cool beauty hack or is it going a bit too far?
Ingredients like propylene glycol, hydroxyethylcellulose, benzoic acid and sodium hydroxide, are all ingredients that can be found in line and are also common ingredients in skincare so it could actually work as a primer.
Most lubricants contain ingredients such as castor oil which has become a popular addition to use with normal primers as it can smooth out the skin and reduce the appearance of pores. However, a lot of lubricants are known to contain silicone some of which may not be beneficial to the skin. Also due to the thickness of lube, when applied on your face, it can lead to clogged pores, irritated skin and breakouts.
So, in conclusion, stick to your tested and trusted primers in order to ensure a healthy and glowing skin.
