Lagos Fashion Week Candid Moments , Big Wins and Viral Highlights

164views

Over the past decade and a half, the annual multi-day fashion experience, Lagos Fashion Week, founded by Omoyemi Akerele, has firmly established Lagos and Nigeria as a major force in the international fashion world.

The just-concluded Lagos Fashion Week lit up Lagos with style, rhythm and unapologetic flair — and it’s still making waves. Designers -both on and off -site  stole the spotlight: While some were seen  flexing bold masculinity with colour pops and statement tailoring; Others brought the heritage-couture edge, proving African luxury isn’t a trend, it’s a legacy; likewise with  textural play in neutrals resonating like a whisper that turned into a roar. The final show, a city-sized tribute by Heineken titled “City of Cities – Our Rhythm, Our Runway”, brought the magic home with 46 looks inspired by Lagos’ heartbeat.
In short: Lagos didn’t just host a fashion week — it reminded the world that the continent’s creative pulse is live, loud , unstoppable and in Lagos

5- On Day 2 of the event, Ciara made her appearance for Fruché, gliding down the runway in a striking bright red gown crafted from pleated fabric that gave off a subtle, metallic sheen. The pleats ran vertically across the dress, giving it structure and fluidity all at once.

The gown’s silhouette was bold and sculptural. Its sleeves, wide and ballooned, stretched outwards like wings, the pleats forming graceful folds that caught the movement of her walk. The bodice featured a deep V-neckline, richly decorated with beadwork and embroidery in shades of red, coral, and pink. The embellishments drew the eye to the chest and waist before the fabric flowed into a full-length skirt that moved beautifully with each step.

Completing the look was a gele tied in the same vivid red, styled high with sweeping folds and a bow-like finish. It framed her face elegantly and tied the look together in perfect harmony.

6-The evening celebrated silhouettes, colour, and heritage — all brought to life through Onalaja’s “Marked: A Rite of Passage”, a collection that paid homage to identity and craftsmanship.

“Lagos, I’m home,” Chi-Chi said. And she meant it, dazzling in a sequinned mini dress by Onalaja that was an explosion of colour and texture. The dress featured a sweetheart neckline with thick straps and was fully covered in sequins arranged in an abstract watercolour-like pattern, shifting from emerald green to gold, coral, brown, pink, purple, and blue.

Ciara also wore Onalaja, opting for a sheer mesh long-sleeved dress with a striking ombré gradient that moved from coral and orange into purple, blue, and rainbow tones. The dress bore the designer’s name written across the front in a fluid, artistic script — a detail that tied the night’s celebration of artistry together.
