With a significant rise in the patronage of body enhancement practitioners of many men and women seeking solutions not just for medical reasons but aesthetic confirmations. it is no longer a taboo topic of discussion as there has been quite a buzz in who had got a job done over who had been in the gym . Just as this rave has been a huge confidence booster, it has also seen a death toll rise of its patients who have either fallen victim of quacks or from complications arising . It is on this premise we speak with one of Nigeria’s most sought after non Surgical body enhancement and beauty specialist Dr Beatrice Nwalie aka Dr Bea . She our E.I.C – Moriam Musa through the reasons why body enhancement has become a lunch time procedure , the rise in body enhancement as well as the role of social media.
Q- Cosmetic surgery, are you for or against it?
A- I’m for reality. Social media creates an unreal reality that a lot of people cannot take breaks. For instance you see a picture of someone’s face that has already been edited, skin edited and then you go online and see celebrity pictures or friends of 10/20 years ago looking great and then you start to imagine . Now you already have your insecurities as well all do and are probably familiar with. We keep it on the inside not wanting to share with anybody. And then at the end of the day you want to go do something about you. So that’s why the rate of body enhancement procedures are increasing daily. It wasn’t like this 20 years ago, there wasn’t any social media at the time ,we were just seeing magazines and even with magazines we used to envy the people in the magazines. but now, it’s not models, It’s people that you see now, and they look almost perfect. And then you’re wondering, why can’t I be like this? You decide to do something about it. You don’t realize that even the so-called people you are thinking are perfect to also have their own insecurities . And there’s somebody on social media that they’re looking at that they are wondering, – What is the secret to this person?
Q- Can you explain the surgical and non-surgical procedure?
A- If you talk about the body, like things like surgical or non-surgical things. So for the surgical part., I always tell people, it doesn’t matter the surgery you do, be it cosmetic, be it gynecological , be it medical, whatever surgical procedure that is going to be done, the end result of complications most times is – Death . So when people say oh, I went for a cosmetic procedure and the person dies, they are only looking at the cosmetic part, they’re not realizing it’s a cosmetic surgery and therefore, as a surgery, the major complication of that surgery is death. But you cant say – Oh, she was sick. No, Rather you will hear – She didn’t like the way her body was and therefore she went to do something about it and in the process she died. That’s just the thing about it. It’s like I said a personal decision and if you’re doing it because you saw A or B with a certain figure then you are making a mistake. Do it for yourself and know you have decided that whatever comes after this I will take it then you have done well.
Q- How can complications be reduced ?
A- Now reducing the incidence of that major complication like death is determined by the surgeon you pick who is the surgeon? What is his/her certification, what is the procedure and rate of success ? These are things you must, must, must ask . Some people are looking for cheap and do not want to spend so much money.
Q- So, why did you decide to specialize in long surgical interventions?
A- So, I do my clinical meds – Boring. Secondly, I wanted to do something that different than the typical clinics, that is being in the clinic seeing malaria, hypertension , diabetic patients then afterwards the same people that came for malaria, hypertension and diabetes will come back within a month and complain of the same ailments and one day as the years go by the patient passes . To me, I wasn’t really making any impact. I wanted to do something a bit different and I decided to specialize in aesthetic dermatology and I know people mistake it for a dermatologist.
Q- So what is the difference between both ?
A- Dermatologists go into residency, and they focus on internal medicine, and after internal medicine, they went into skin and disease of the skin , Now most dermatologists can treat acne, but they cannot cosmetically treat it . What do I mean? The dermatologist will make the acne go away. Of course acne will go but you will be left with scars and pigmentation or in some cases there will be formation of the scars which could cause keloid or hypertrophic scar. So when we step into mythology and aesthetics, we’re interested in the final appearance. So we fine tune the body, the skin, the face. So we are interested in the appearance of the person, because we found out that in health, even your appearance can make you sick. You may not have a disease, but you might not be happy with your appearance and that will affect your mental health.
Q- When someone walks into your office and they ask for a body enhancement procedure , What is the first thing you say to them ? .
A- I am not a surgeon . but I can guide them. Some people come in for body enhancements with fillers on their butt so I guide them through the procedure before carrying it out without them having to go under the knife .
Q- What’s the difference?
A- Fillers have a duration period , fat doesn’t. Fat can also be broken down depending on your body’s metabolism . Now it’s more common in European countries where most white people don’t even add weight naturally but they still want to have a natural curvature.
Most of men, who are suffering from erectile dysfunction and Relationship Problems Coping with erectile dysfunction can be depressing, as men pride themselves on their ability to match men and to control the process of sexual activity by themselves. cipla tadalafil Sex is one of the most important parts of any generic cialis without prescription http://robertrobb.com/judges-shouldnt-change-ballot-measure-rules/ individual’s life. Herbal viagra generika is a non-prescription medicine which can be decreased or increased depending on the visible results.
Q- fillers, , silicone and fat which is most common
A- In Europe.- Silicone but in Nigeria- Fat .
Q- Which fades faster?
A- None , they can last for as much but the thing is that silicone will constantly and continually give you the same shape but it can shift but fat can dissolve also – Naturally. When you lose weight. The fat loses , when you add weight you can add weight on that particular area but then you can also develop more cellulites. Fat is not a smooth structure but fillers will give you a smooth finish .
Q-Why do you think butt lifts have become increasingly popular over breast implants ?
A- What is social media promoting these days ? Thin waist and big butts . So that’s why everybody wants it.
Q- Do you ever discourage anyone ?
A- No , or will I say it depends . I will advise you according to the proportion of your body .
I have a lot of women who come to me and say – I just want to do this for myself …If it is needed, of course she will have the procedure done . .But if it wont fit her , I will tell her .
Q- Which is more expensive , fillers or fat trans ?
A- So in America, people are spending over 20,000 to $40,000 and if you compare here in Nigeria, and have girls who spend 3 to 5 million to do with fillers, because they can afford it. So it’s not typical for the average person who is saving 1-2 million for a BBL.
Q- What are popular requests like ?
A- Well the slimmer girls just want a nicely rounded butt which curvier girls request for the kim Kardashian type of butt . Whatever the request , my advice is do what fits your body type . We have a lot of weird shaped women around and it is no longer appealing .
