Omoyemi Akerele, founder of the just concluded Lagos Fashion week – is bereaved .
She lost her dad recently just before the fashion week .It was not clear to see if this was true st the time as she went about the various running’s of the fashion week without showing a moment of melt down.
She announced the passing of her father over the weekend on her Instagram page.
Saying ……Oh my darling Papa.. Friday was incomplete without you. Even though the celebration was all for you and about you, it was sadly incomplete without a dance with you, your reassuring smile, your calmness and infectious energy all rolled in one. I’m thankful for memories like this and I’m holding on to them. If only I’d known this’ll be our last dance together… Adieu DA
Shortly after the fashion week, her close friends joined her in celebrating his life time, in an intimates ceremony . A daddy’s girl of some sorts,Omoyemi is the second of seven children. In a recent interview with where she spoke with Anum Bashir of DIGS where she spoke about his as her Hero…..
AB: Childhood dreams/heroes?
OA: My Dad.
For as far back as I can remember, I wanted to be a lawyer and I wanted to change the world, work with international organizations like the UN, UNICEF etc and be part of policy formulation that can impact our world.
I don’t work in Law anymore but my work in fashion business development has brought me into close contact with agencies like the United Nations, United Nations Industrial Organization and International Trade Center. We have worked in some capacity with the organizations and still do.
We pray God grants David Akintayo a peaceful rest .
Condolences to the family.
