Nutritionist Ayo Van Elmar has released a new episode of Eat Right Africa. Here she shares tips on how to boost our immune system during the corona virus outbreak which the country is grappling with.
Most of us find it difficult to drink water. We want a flavour, we want the sweetness in a liquid. Squeezed juices of fresh fruits and vegetables should replace any kind of fizzy, carbonated, sugar-rich drinks that you normally buy from the supermarket shelves. At a time like this, a higher intake of vitamins and minerals is essential for maintaining a healthy diet and boosting your immune system. Adding fresh juices to your daily routine helps you consume more servings of fruits and vegetables. Most packed juices have many added ingredients such as sugar, artificial colours or preservatives. Embrace drinking water, teas, and any natural (fresh) juices at this season. Avoid or cut down drastically on alcohol too.
