Do you have any favourite piece of work ? Why is it your favourite?

JS –  My favorite piece of work at the moment is How to scream so no one can hear you”. This is my favorite piece for two reasons; firstly, I loved every moment of creating this work, the many nuances of the shades on the skin, the play of light, the colors…it was just beautiful.

Secondly, it’s a work that addresses the silent struggles of people with battling with depression and mental health problem. It paints a picture of how they look normal and pretend to be normal because of the stigma society has placed on their condition. It also touches on the hypocrisy of people who claim to care for these people, especially when something bad happens as a result. They would usually act surprised and say things like “he was always smiling, she looked happy, why didn’t he say a word, why didn’t she talk”. Ask yourself though, were you really willing to listen without judgement or be there for such people without making their private struggles headline news, ask yourself.(smiles)
