This trend became more popular on Tik – Tok after a makeup artist @paintedbyspencer shared a video of himself with the caption “Have you tried the reverse cat eye? It’s my favorite”.
The winged eyeliner has become one of the most popular makeup technique in recent years and the cat eye is also incredibly versatile but this reverse cat eye trend can easily become the new favorite makeup trick.
The reverse cat eye is basically what it sounds like. Instead of applying the eyeliner to the top lash line, the liner is smudged out on the bottom lash line and extended to create a smoking reverse wing.

The simple yet glamorous eyeliner look has inspired a great deal of other creators to try out the trend. Just like the traditional cat eye, the reverse cat eye might take some practice but as Spencer stated in his tutorial, “Play around with it and just know that if it doesn’t turn out the way you want it, it’s just make-up, it wipes off. Have fun”.
