144 Faces and 24 Hours later , Anita Natacha Akide breaks 2 Guinness Records . Putting Nigeria on the world map once more , all the way from Lagos, Nigeria, the city watched as Anita Natacha Akide, better known as Tacha, spent a single, grueling 24-hour stretch immersed in brushes, powders, and palettes. By the time the final clock stopped, she had not only cemented her status as a beauty mogul but had officially claimed two Guinness World Record titles.

Tacha’s Tacha Beauty Festival saw her execute the most cosmetic makeovers in 8 hours, completing an astonishing 82 transformations. She then pushed her endurance to the limit, finishing a total of 144 makeovers in 24 hours, surpassing the existing record by over 30 people. Each transformation was a comprehensive work of art, including foundation, concealer, blush, two eyeshadows, mascara, lip liner, gloss, finishing powder, and shaped eyebrows.

The moment the confirmation arrived was electric. Tacha recounted the emotional wave to Guinness World Records: According to her ….”I screamed, cried, hugged my sister and assistants. We were all overwhelmed. It felt like the whole of Nigeria was celebrating with me… it felt like every person who had ever believed in me was standing right there.”

Persistence Woven in Powder

For Tacha, makeup has always been more than just a tool for beauty; it has been her safe space and her most vibrant means of self-expression. Her love for colors and beauty started in childhood, a persistence that saw her continuously replace discarded mascaras and eyeliners thrown away by her devoted church worker mother.

That same spirit of resilience and courage fueled her record attempt. As she put it ….  “This record was born from that same spirit,” she explains. “I wanted to show that Nigerian women can achieve anything they put their minds to, that creativity is powerful, and that African women deserve global recognition.”

Tacha views her achievement as a collective victory. She dedicates the record to “every girl who has dared to start over, every creative who has been doubted, every person who refused to give up, and every dreamer who believes that greatness can come from anywhere.”

Finally “I want my story to remind the world that greatness has no geography, and that Africa’s creative power deserves to be seen, celebrated, and remembered,” she affirms.
