The Grand Finale of Lagos Fashion Week 2021 kicked off with about three different collaborative presentations, but let me not bore you with mundane details and skip right to the crux of the matter! Let me give you the scoop on the most memorable moments from the runway shows, one of them been Lush Hair’s show. The show was inclusive in that it had both svelte and plus-sized models as well as cute junior models. June Wisse, Little Miss United Nations NG 2021, stole our hearts as she confidently strutted down Lush Hair’s runway- sealing it with an air kiss as she twirled towards the end of the ramp, to the loud cheers of mesmerised spectators. We thought we had seen it all till the unexpected happened; TV personality cum Nigerian king of razzmatazz, Denrele Edun took the runway by storm in a pink cape jumpsuit. His hair was styled with Lush Hair’s natural hair extension which he wore in a halo of bouncy puffs. Denrele captured the attention of the hall with his vivacious presence and energetic moves whilst playing runway “commandant” to the other models after his own walk. We were thrown into a fit of excitement by Denrele’s animated antics, a much needed relief from the displeasure caused by the long time lapses in-between some of the previous shows.
AWA MEITE AND NKWO: FASHION TWINS
How can I forget the fine selection of breathtaking pieces by Malian designer, Awa Meite and Nkwo who understood the assignment as regards showing just how stylish sustainable fashion and upcycled pieces can be. Their collections are what fashion dreams are made of!

JZO literally shut off air supply from my lungs with their unique perspective on metrosexual fashion. Emma Kasbit showed how it’s done with his theatrical showcase. It was an intriguing one that tickled my fancy than the collection itself.
ODIO MIMONET AND EJIRO AMOS TAFIRI, QUEENS OF THE RUNWAY.
Lagos Fashion Week “veterans,” Odio Mimonet and Ejiro Amos Tafiri didn’t disappoint at all. They proved their collections were worth waiting for as the show organisers saved the best for last. We saw a great deal of African dress forms, sunny hues, rich textiles and detailed garment construction techniques in each of the designers’ sophisticated collections. It explains how these two “thinking designers” attained their top designer status.
After a frenzied week of fashion-centered activities, the curtain finally fell on the 2021 edition of Lagos Fashion Week.
